The Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IBTS-BAS) received an invitation from the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest to present the exhibition "The Heart of Bulgaria. Masterpieces from the Rila Holy Monastery". The exhibition will be associated with the feast of St. John of Rila on 19 October, which since 2016 has also been celebrated as the Day of Bulgarian-Hungarian Friendship.
The exhibition is organized by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest in cooperation with the Bulgarian Embassy in Budapest, the Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Institute of Balkan Studies and the Rila Monastery.
The exhibition presents masterpieces from the Rila Holy Monastery, the oldest institution in the Bulgarian state, which has preserved and maintained the Bulgarian spirit throughout the centuries. The Monastery, whose significance goes far beyond the Balkans, has been a cultural centre and a treasury of Orthodoxy for more than a thousand years.
The opening of the exhibition will be on 13 October (Thursday) 2022 at 18.00 at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Budapest (Hungary), 14 Andrassy Str.
