The Church History Museum includes the main collection of exhibits related to the history of the monastery from its founding by St. John of Rila to the end of the XIX century - manuscripts and old printed books, prints, etc. The Raphael's Cross, made by the monk Raphael at the beginning of the 19th century, occupies a central place in the exposition. The cross is a unique work of Bulgarian miniature woodcarving.
